Chapter 05
Can you → Could you → Would you mind → I was wondering if you could
|---|---|---|
Hey, what's up? What's going on? | Hello, how are you? How have you been? |
I'm Minji. I work at a startup. I'm into hiking. | My name is Minji Kim. I'm in charge of marketing. |
See you! Catch you later! Take care! | It was nice meeting you. I look forward to seeing you again. |
Long time no see! It's been ages! | It's been a while. How have you been? |
|---|---|
Can you open the window? Could you open the window? |
Would you mind moving over a little? I was wondering if you could help me with this. |
Why don't we take a break? How about lunch? What if we start earlier? We could try again. |
I'd love to, but I can't today. I'm afraid I can't. I wish I could, but… Maybe next time. |
Sure! No problem. I'd be happy to. Sounds good. |
|---|---|
I think… In my opinion… The way I see it… If you ask me… Personally, I think… |
Exactly. Absolutely. I totally agree. I couldn't agree more. |
I see your point, but… That's true, however… I agree to some extent, but… |
I'm not sure about that. I see it differently. I get what you're saying, but… |
Don't you think? Right? Wouldn't you agree? |
I couldn't agree more
|---|---|
I'm so happy! That's amazing! I'm thrilled! That made my day! |
No way! Are you serious? I can't believe it! You're kidding! |
I'm worried about the test. I'm a bit concerned. I'm kind of nervous. |
That's too bad. I was really hoping… That's a bummer. What a shame. |
I really appreciate it. That means a lot. I owe you one. |
I'm sorry about that. My bad. I didn't mean to. I apologize for the delay. |
I totally get it. That must be tough. I've been there. I know how you feel. |
|---|---|
It's like… What I mean is… In other words… Basically… The thing is… |
It looks like rain. It sounds like fun. It seems like… It's kind of… |
This is bigger than that. It's not as big as I thought. This is way better. It's nothing like the last one. |
For example… Like… Let's say… Such as… |
So basically… The point is… Long story short… In a nutshell… |
|---|---|
Can you tell me how it works? |
Is that right? Do you mean tomorrow? So you're saying…? Am I understanding correctly? |
Would you rather stay or go? Which do you prefer? |
Sorry, what did you say? Could you say that again? I didn't catch that. |
Is it okay if I sit here? Do you mind if I open the window? Would it be alright to leave early? |
Can you → Could you → Would you mind -ing → I was wondering if you could.
I'd love to, but…
- I couldn't agree more는 완전한 동의다.
Sorry? / Could you say that again? / I didn't catch that.
I was wondering if you could가 가장 높은 단계다.
2. "Would you mind closing the door?"
"꺼리지 않는다"고 답해야 하므로 No, not at all (또는 Sure).
3. "I couldn't agree more."
I owe you one
I see it differently / I'm not sure about that은 상대를 존중하면서 반대하는 표현이다.
